A pure sports car interior

Sports cars today have dramatic, exciting exteriors, yet look very much the same on the inside –– safe, clean, devoid of emotion. Your task is to create a pure sports car interior with true 'wow' factor.

Each part of the interior –– every individual component or element –– should be a work of art or sculpture in its own right. This is your opportunity to focus purely on aesthetics –– a dream come true for any vehicle designer.

Forget what you know of existing sports car design and start from the experience of driving rather than the constraints of vehicle drivetrain engineering and packaging. What recent technological developments can be used to enhance this experience for both the driver and passengers?

Consider the following:

Sports cars are inherently selfish and orientated towards the driver. Don't be afraid to focus on his/her needs and desires. Consider what it is that defines a true sports car.

A sports car interior should have 'wow' factor –– the moment the door is open, the experience begins.

Ignore the drivetrain and packaging constraints completely –– this is a pure interior design whose sole purpose is to ignite the imagination and create a sensual, rewarding driving experience.

Consider not only how the interior looks, but also its ergonomics. How can the driver feel more 'at one' with the vehicle, as well as the road below?

Consider materials, and how tactility can play a part in the driver experience. Isn't it time we widened the industry's horizons beyond wood, leather, carbon-fibre and aluminium?
