The overall Student Design of the Year 2013 was created by Nir Siegel, Cherica Haye and Hanchul Lee of London’s Royal College of Art. They won the Best Ergonomics category.

Categories

Entries to the Car Design News-Interior Motives Design Awards 2013 are made in these eight Awards categories:

  • Best eco interior
  • Best use of technology
  • Best innovative interior
  • Best ergonomics
  • Best conceptual interior
  • Best production interior
  • Best conceptual exterior
  • Best artistic visualisation
     


Prizes & Awards ceremony

Each of the category winners will receive an Award trophy and a cheque for $500. The single overall Interior Motives Student Designer of the Year, who will already be a category winner, will receive a trophy and a cheque for $5,000. 

All shortlisted and finalist students of the CDN Interior Motives Design Awards 2013 will be invited to the Awards ceremony on 9 September 2013 for the announcement of the winners. Finalists will be invited to bring a guest, and their course tutor or Head of Programme is also invited as a guest.  Contact us with questions about attending 


  Design briefs

The theme of this year's Interior Motives Design Awards is 'The Connected Car'.

Within this overall 2013 theme, students are tasked with matching one of the following four briefs. Entries must include illustrations and written explanation of how the design works or meets the brief.

The CDN Interior Motives Design Awards 2013 competition is open to students enrolled in a college or university level design programme (either undergraduate or graduate) anywhere in the world.

Along with transportation and product design, entries from students studying fashion, textile and other design courses, as well as those studying design engineering and architecture, are encouraged.

Individuals not enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree course at a college or university are not eligible. All projects must be designed/completed during the 2012-13 academic year.

 
Individual or group entries:
  • Individuals and groups (with a maximum of three members) are eligible.
  • For group entries, the three participating members must name a nominated leader and point of contact. The group leader is responsible for sharing winnings with the group should a prize be awarded.
  • To verify that entrants are bona fide students, the name, email address and contact telephone number for the head of department at the student's college is required.

Car Design News, Interior Motives and the CDN Interior Motives Design Awards 2013 assumes that all entries are original and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted therein. Car Design News and Interior Motives magazine are not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant and all images provided with entries are assumed to be free of copyright infringement and, if a third party is involved, that the entrant has secured permission for those image(s) to appear in issues of Interior Motives magazine, its supplements and on the following websites: www.interiormotivesmagazine.com, www.interiormotivesawards.com and www.cardesignnews.com.
 

Notification

The Organisers will notify winners and runners-up directly at the presentation ceremony of the CDN Interior Motives Design Awards 2013, to be held at the venue and on the date publicised. The names of winners and runners-up will be posted online at www.interiormotivesawards.com on completion of the competition.

Rights of ownership

Submissions remain the intellectual property of the entrants. However, by entering, all entrants agree to permit Car Design News, Interior Motives magazine and the Organisers, Ultima Media Ltd, to use their entries in print and on their websites, on the competition website  www.interiormotivesawards.com and in Ultima Media Ltd advertising/marketing material in perpetuity and for any and all purposes connected with their publishing activities and with the organisation and promotion of the Awards. Entrants also agree to the use of their names and likenesses for purposes of advertising, display and promotion without compensation, unless prohibited by law.
 

No liability

No responsibility or liability will be accepted by Ultima Media Ltd, Car Design News, Interior Motives magazine, Interior Motives Design Awards, their affiliates, subsidiaries, agents or representatives, or anyone connected to this project for  lost, late, misdirected, illegible, or damaged entries or any other such events that may occur or technical, hardware or software failure of any kind, for lost network connection or for distorted or scrambled computer transmissions or if, for any reason, computer programs are not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, and unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Ultima Media Ltd that corrupt or affect administration, security, fairness, integrity, or discretion.
